Act One
CURTAIN OPENS to reveal the factory floor of millionaire EVAN MASK’s, “Human AI, Inc”. They are building AI personal assistant robots. Trying to desperately get his attention is NORMA, early 30s. She isn’t the most aggressive person, so that doesn’t help. There have been accidents & safety issues, plus activists are pushing for destruction. She is trying to warn him but he doesn’t care.
As Evan goes to hod nob with investors, Norma tries to enlist help from anyone who will hear her out. They tell her to not worry about it and trust the leader. The robots begin to position themselves to be sent out.
A worker enters with a limp robot on a dolly. Sam intercepts, “Not him again. Seventh time this month.” Norma chimes in concern, “What’s wrong with him? Is he okay?” They dismiss her and turn the robot (LEO) on.
They roll Leo into the corner, power him down and say they will recycle him later in the week. Norma over hears and clandestinely turns him back on. “That was rude of Sam. You don’t seem defective to me. We all have flaws.”, she consoles. “Thanks, that’s nice of you to say. I am trying. Really” Leo says. As the two continue to talk, a bond starts to form.
The “Creole Coffee” shop is right at the foot of Norma’s apartment. Every customer has their face planted in a device. Norma stops in for her nightly catch up with the unique owner ZEE. Norma tells of what she is hearing and worried about at work. Zee doesn’t much care for the new technology as most. The conversation turns to Norma’s love life or lack thereof. She hints about getting Leo to come home with her for company. Zee warns her and them all at the shop.
Back in her small apartment, Norma fixed her cats, Brad (Pitt) & Bradley (Cooper) some dinner. She grabs a tablet & puts on her TV shows while nestling on the couch. Her face fills with loneliness.
Act Two
CURTAIN OPENS on a dark factory floor. A few lights cast pools. In one, is Leo. He mills around a bit miming with some of the switched off robots. He’s playing human. Father - son. Stranger greeting someone on the street, “Good morning. Nice out isn’t it.” And of course, playing boyfriend. Then he laments on his real existence.
Suddenly an angry mob of activists break into the factory. They start to tag & destroy the robots. Leo hides away. Norma arrives before the major destruction happens. She spies Leo. Leo, “What are you doing here? It’s not safe.” “Not the way I planned but...I’m taking you out of here.”, she replies. The two sneak away.
Evan bursts through the doors, along with several employees. They get the people to leave. But the destruction has been done Evan walks among the robot pieces.
At the “Creole Coffee” shop Zee listens to Norma and Leo’s tale of what happened as they rest from the incident. “I know there are issues with all this stuff but that’s just not right.” Zee exclaims. Leo & Norma’s bond grows deeper. A hug seems to create a weird feeling for both.
As Norma & Leo head up to her apartment to rest, Zee notices the strange love that is forming with her friend, a human, & an AI robot. She decides to make it right. Using the one thing her creole mother told her to stay away from.
In the apartment, Leo & Norma are asleep but there is much going on around them. A mystical show of light & sound which causes Leo to shake. It all builds to a crescendo, then quiet. Leo begins to stir. He looks down at his new human hands then to the mirror to see a human face.
